Wool
Care:
- Air out instead of washing: Wool doesn’t like water – often just airing it out in fresh air (preferably with high humidity) is enough for the fibers to regain their elasticity and freshness.
- If washing is necessary, choose hand wash only in lukewarm water (about 30°C) or a very gentle wool-specific program.
- Use only specialized, mild detergents with lanolin – avoid regular powders that can dry out and weaken the fibers.
- Never wring or twist – gently press out excess water with a clean, dry towel.
Drying and storage:
- Dry exclusively flat on a dry towel, shaping the garment back to its original form. Hanging a wet sweater will cause it to stretch irreversibly.
- Wool loves “rest” – try not to wear the same sweater two days in a row; give the fibers time to return to their natural shape.
- Store it folded in a cube in the closet, never on a hanger, to avoid shoulder deformation.
Sunday Tip: Pilling (small balls) is a natural process for fine wools. Don’t pull them off – use a gentle fabric shaver or a special comb to make your sweater look like new again!
