Corduroy
Care:
- Always inside out: This is a golden rule – washing corduroy inside out protects the ribs from abrasion and prevents small lint from sticking to the fabric texture.
- Choose a low temperature (30°C) and a gentle cycle. Avoid overloading the washing machine to prevent permanent creases on the fabric.
- Use mild laundry detergents – powders can settle deep in the ribs and be difficult to rinse out.
Sunday Tip: If your corduroy attracts threads or dust, gently brush it with a soft clothes brush after drying, following the direction of the ribs – it will regain its fluffy shine!
Drying and ironing:
- Forget about the tumble dryer – high temperature is the quickest way to shrink the fabric and damage the rib structure.
- Dry inside out, preferably flat or on a sturdy hanger. Avoid clips that can leave permanent marks on the texture.
- Ironing? Corduroy hates it! If you must smooth out wrinkles, do it only on the inside, using plenty of steam and barely touching the fabric with the iron. It’s best to just let it dry naturally.
Remember – corduroy is a fabric that ages beautifully. Over time, it may develop elegant worn areas that only add to its authenticity.
